Each year in Portland, Oregon there is a big sale called the Gathering of the Guilds. It includes the Weaving Guild, the Bead Society, the Glassmakers, the Metal Guild, and The Woodworkers. This year I bought 3 packages of Weaving scraps to play with. The photo shows the large pieces including two that have the long threads between sections of weaving. I’ve always been going to try that on my knitting machine but never seem to get around to it. Those who know me know I have a passion for working with scraps and creating something.
The wonderful beads are from Portland artist Michael Barley http://www.barleybeads.com The photo doesn’t do them justice. I rarely buy big beads but just couldn’t resist these. We kept going back to his booth for more of them. He told us the fascinating process he uses to make them. They are about 1 1/2″ long and will be wonderful focal points.
The buttons were too much of a bargain to pass up. A lady at the coast makes them and a friend was selling them for her. They too are very special.
