Black and White

The Columbia Fiberarts guild had Cynthia Corbin as the speaker a couple of weeks ago. She talked about designing using black fabric and slashing it rather than using a sketchbook. I decided to try it but with white under the black and then sewing the pieces together to get units.

The center two reverse images and the left piece were ones I slashed and sewed. The right piece was a leftover from a quilt that was hanging on the design wall, because I wanted to do something with it. The circles fabric is a commercial print. I didn’t use the white version of the left piece but arranged everything else and am pleased with the result. It’s about 20 by 24 inches.

Now the quilting. Part of me wants to leave it graphic. Part wants to do color stitching on it to see what happens. Any opinions?
